Today’s Feature Friday – The Kastle on Wheels!

So I see this amazing bus come up in my feed under a hashtag I follow for skoolie builds. It’s this amazing kitchen with blue cabinets, and I think – no way this is an actual bus. I click through to the profile, and the first thing I read is, “So a ginger @jeremys_kastle, Latina @ladykastle, and a baby #littlekastle walk onto a bus…”.

I followed them immediately for that bio alone.

I’ve stayed for the amazing build and the lovely family who live inside it.

From that aforementioned kitchen to the bedroom with a bed on a lift (yes, you read that right), this is a build that deserves a feature. So let’s dive in!

THE FRONT ENTRY

If you look at our bus, you know we’re a fan of blues and neutrals. But this one is really done perfectly – tons of warm tones coupled with those blue cupboards and different fabrics to give lots of depth. We love the storage baskets, mix of textures, and personal details scattered throughout.

THE KITCHEN

This was the photo that first caught my attention – and can you blame me?! They utilized the same L-shaped layout we did, but with a full wall of cupboards. We love the butcher block countertops paired with the white honeycomb tile and floating shelves. Plus, that HUGE sink is a dream for a space that doesn’t have a dishwasher.

A BED ON A LIFT

We’ve seen this done a few times, and it continues to blow our minds – @thekastleonwheels has their bed on a lift. When not in use, it rises up to the ceiling and allows the space where it sits to be used for other things, like a cradle and closet space. Cool factor aside, space is at a premium in a school bus, and utilizing every available inch is a must. This is space utilization to the next level.

AND AN AWESOME BEDROOM WHEN IT’S DOWN

That said, the view when the bed is down is pretty amazing too. We love how homey and real this feels, you know? On many buses, you can immediately tell that it’s not a traditional home, but looking at this picture – well, just maybe it’s in a stick-built home. In any event, we wouldn’t mind laying our heads here at the end of a long day.

A DARLING LITTLE BATHROOM THAT WORKS FOR KIDS

The Kastles have two little ones – one that started the build with them, and another that came along as it was finished. I had to resist posting baby photos because I’m in the middle of baby fever and man oh man is that little girl just adorable. I was able to get away with it here where I can point out their perfect little bathroom designed to be kid-friendly. Again, this is a very real bathroom – super cozy and clean, and check out that amazing vanity and sink!

A ROOF RAISE, A DECK, AND REAL WINDOWS!

The exterior of this one is pretty amazing. We love the paint job, but it goes beyond that. The roof raise looks amazing and was well done, a rooftop deck is always a choice we love, and they have real windows! Not only that, but we love the stained wood against the bus. Bravo @thekastleonwheels – seriously good work all around.
